Got this bat for my 8 year-old son for use in the new year with the new bat rules, and we're both happy with it. Hits the ball a long way and he likes the feel of it. He had been using other boys' composite bats but he hasn't been able to get them around quickly enough. This one is a bit lighter, but more importantly it feels a bit more balanced to me, not as end-heavy. Plus it's less expensive than composite models, which are pretty pricey for an 8 year old kid. Also, I don't know who thinks this is meant for kids under 7, as stated in the description (we got the 28 inch/18 oz model). My son is taller than average 8 year-olds and very athletic, yet anything over 27-28 inches is way too long for him, and the rest of his team as well, in my opinion. They just can't muster any kind of bat speed with anything heavier. Even the bat itself says something like "for kids up to age 8", which I think is misleading. Other sites label this a "coach pitch" bat too, for reasons I don't understand. It's not at all a little kid's bat at 28 inches long. I see my son using this for at least another 2 years, probably more if it holds up.Only complaints are that the grip is a little cheap feeling, but that will be replaced soon I expect. Also for an all-metal bat the price isn't anything to write home about, though Amazon's price was the best I had found online. If it lasts a few years it will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteI bought this bat for my 6 year old son after we used the 26 inch Easton V12 in our first tournament of the year which we won. The 25 inch fits my son perfect and he wields the bat at the plate like a pro hitting the ball to all parts of the field. Bat has great pop and if your son has game this bat will improve it!
ReplyDeleteThis bat has been everything we were looking for and more. I purchased this bat for my sons fall ball coaches pitch season. By the end of the second game everyone on the team was using it and parents were asking were I they could find one for their child.15 games at least 15 at bats/game and still going strong. I plan to buy 2 more in different sizes by the time the regular season rolls around. The bat DOES have the USSSA fingerprint to meet 2011-2012 bat standards.
