  1. This game is absolutely hideous.***No online play or roster updates. Inexcusable for a "modern" game, especially one that costs $50.***Graphics are terrible.***Too many glitches. The game incorrectly records outs and runs, the announcers' calls are often wrong.***Most players look nothing like their real-life counterparts. For example, Cubs catcher Geovanny Soto is represented by a light-skinned redhead...in other words, NOTHING like Soto. This is especially odd given that Soto looks "right" in The Bigs 2, a game that's roughly two years older than this one.***The controls are OK, though running the bases is too difficult.Junk, junk, junk. The Bigs 2 (which is available rather inexpensively when purchased used) is made by the same company but looks better and is actually quite fun, and Sony's "The Show" series is a far better simulation.

  2. I've stuck with 2k8 baseball on the Wii given the reviews of the previous two iterations. Finally this year I took the plunge pre-ordering 2k11 (I'm a Phillies fan and it looked like there were some interesting improvements).Amazon delivery is great, and the game was waiting for me when I got home from work. I played a quick game on the default settings - I usually do quite well on all-star in 2k8.I sent the Phillies over to Yankee stadium (still bitter there), and set up the weather etc. Things started out pretty cool. I liked the view when pitching which is from the catcher's perspective, and noticed that Doc's pitch selection changed according to whether a right hand or left hand batter was up. Also, it was not quite so easy to paint the corners of the strike zone as in 2k8. I noticed that later in the game after I took Halliday out, there was a vast difference in pitching quality. It also seems like getting cheap pickoffs isn't so easy any more. That was great, but then they hit the ball. For no apparent reason, Chase Utley dove on top of it. Now before you say "well, idiot - that's the dive move", I know how to dive. I actually sat down and read through the mini manual before loading the game up just to brush up on any changes (there are a few). This inadvertent diving happened several times throughout the game and while I really hope that I just need to get used to the new system, after a while I was trying to be careful. Another problem with fielding is that the display can be somewhat choppy which lead me to run over the ball with my players a couple of times.Batting was fun. It was a welcome improvement to be able to have more control. I do not like the point of view from an immersion standpoint (from behind where the catcher would be), but I suppose that it is more tactical. I got burned by some of the poor base running logic that the ai uses but it was my fault for being lazy.I'm not sold on the game play completely, and it's only one game. I've not looked at franchise (although this is where I spend my time) and I couldn't case less about online play - if it is even available. On the surface though the UI doesn't seem any more frustrating than 2K8 and there do seem to be some improvements.
